Default Why does Windows Vista sECK?

Seriously, i got myself a brand new laptop with Vista and have not encountered ANY problems whatsoever with my performance. I mean, why the complaining? ..when i play games like..Battefield 2, Counter Strike Source or even Guild Wars, i dont experience excessive lag, crashes, glitches or anything. The gameplay is smooth, lag-free and can operate at top performance. So ....why?

I had a laptop with Vista too, worked fine with Guild Wars, except the coloring was a bit skewed. (Fujitsu notebook), And my brother had Vista, some games wouldn't install on it, whereas the same game would install for me, and I have XP. That's all I've noticed so far, but I'm not convinced enough about Vista yet to give up my perfectly working XP.

Well, for a few reasons why the professional crowd, and high-end gamers do not like Vista:

A. It's extremely costly. Like all upgrades.
B. The level of hardware needed to run vista without hickups is pretty great compared to what you need to run XP is very great. At least a 2Ghz CPU, and at least 2Gb of RAM with a graphics card that can run the graphical interface.
C. There are a lot of bugs, with Microsoft ignoreing without a proper service pack.
D. No proper drivers have really come out with Vista yet. No creative/sound drivers, nVidia, and ATi haven't really made any really decent drivers have been released.

E. The OS is very expensive.

F. It's too much of a headache to administrator then XP/Linux/OSx. Most professionals are lazy gits who don't enjoy headaches.

Most people who complain about Vista are just doing it to follow the crowd. SP1 is due in the next month or 2.

I've never had a problem with Vista. When I had WinXP I read reviews slamming Vista but I went ahead and got it. As far as I can see, Vista is simply a shiny version of XP.

Thats like asking which sucks the 900 (or was it 1k?) ps3 or the 599 one we have now.

it costs a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOin ass load to buy,
If you already have xp you shouldn't upgrade anyways until like....I dunno 2 years later >.> first release buyers generally regret it

XP will run all your games except for crysis perfectly.

Anyways I'll stick to my linux distro's

It's new!

People fear new things, change, Microsoft!
It is cool to be against everything and be old-skool, even if you lack any arguments!
HayesA sums up the valid ones, that are ignored by a huge majority who just prefer to argue against anything new.

Vista has some issues, but people usually prefer to yell around that it sucks and sucks and sucks.

These are all good reasons to wait before upgrading to Vista (or any new Windows ever). Let some other poor guy be Microsoft's freebie beta tester!
I really wish they would stop launching new platforms until they had at least 85-90% of the bugs sorted.

I just hate the fact that Bill Gates has taken my job! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find another like it?

It runs ok if you have over 2gig of ram, but even then opening things can take a bit of time. Still, I like it, and i haven't had any real issues. Just a few compatibility problems with some of my older programs, but nothing that I couldn't live without...

I haven't had a problem since I built my new rig and went Vista 64 Ultimate.
Main reason I had to upgrade was because of AutoCAD 08. I figured if it was really as bad as people say I would just downgrade. But no problems so far.

Fixed.

Microsoft are lying through their teeth when they say Vista is required for max. (You do need to enable max settings through a workaround on XP though, since at first the game will say you can't run full max. Once truly maxed, they surpass Vista.)

I would suggest, very strongly as an experienced systems administrator, that you downgrade to Windows XP Pro. I do not recommend Vista at this point of time. We will see of Microsoft will get off their butts and send out a Service Pack that will be worth it in the coming months. But for at least another year, perhaps two years, Vista simply is not recommended.

There are certain subtle effects that only DX10 has. XP can run it on Very High if you do some tweaking to some files, but it's still only DX9.

Sorry, you might want to brace yourself, get ready for the scarriest story yet.

I like you got a nice new laptop which had vista installed by default. I was suspicious of vista before getting the laptop, but I got a great deal on it so i figured, what the heck I'll try it.

Initially i was wowed by how pretty vista was, although the flaws quickly came out, it started wtih small things bothering me about vista itself, so many useless features, so much unecessary crap, but then I started monitoring my laptop's performance. Call me old fashioned but I prefered it when Microsoft Word didn't use 70% of a Centrino Core 2 Duo processor. Unfortunately the slow performance was just the beginning.

My vista had a terrible glitch when playing music, near the end of every song, if there was another song to be played afterwards, the song would stop and skip for the last 10-20 seconds of the song. This was the big one that really got me peeved at vista, what kind of OS lags out when playing an mp3?!?

And I found myself very quickly frustrated with the excessive amount of redudant popups vista has, I was asked no less than 3 times if I really wanted to install anything, change any system setting, or generally do anything of any significance on the computer.

Eventually the problems started adding up and after discovering that over half of the software (and hardware) I wanted to put on my laptop was incompatable with vista I decided I'd had enough.

I did some research and "downgraded" (felt like more of an upgrade to me) to XP. I'm now happily using XP on my laptop, with much better performance than I got with vista.

The scarriest thing of all however was what I learned about vista while doing research on how to switch back to XP. Vista is extremely clingy. and not in a cute way either, I had to go in and disable specific files on vista before it would allow me to even begin to install XP. And I've heard some horror stories of what happens when you put both systems on the same computer....just don't do it.

Sorry to freak you out, maybe you'll have better luck with vista than I. but after dealing with Vista the next time I upgrade to a new OS it isn't going to be one made by Microsoft.
